2016 was a great year for us at Subcon Laser. Starting the year with being named one of the Top 5 Laser Cutting Companies in the UK and ending with the launch of our brand new 8kw fiber laser cutting system – we couldn’t have asked for a better year!

Here are a few of our highlights.

Subcon are Named one of the Top 5 Laser Cutting Companies in the UK

At Subcon, we pride ourselves on our exemplary customer service and high quality laser cutting. We are always upgrading and investing in new technologies in order to provide our customers with the best possible results.
So it was a great endorsement of our fantastic team ‘of efficient and professional engineers’ when we were listed in the Top 5 Laser Cutting Companies.

Made in the Midlands

At the Made in the Midlands Expo, we displayed a few of the things we manufactured recently and talked about laser cutting and midlands manufacturing all day. To make the event more exciting, the Japanese equivalent of the BBC, the NHK, were filming.
NHK also came to Subcon Laser HQ in Nuneaton to do some more filming for a documentary about the English Manufacturing industry. It was a privilege to be approached by the Network and to share our experience of manufacturing across the world.

 

Subcon Show

We had a great time at Subcon 2016 – their 40th annual manufacturing supply chain show dedicated to subcontract and outsourced engineering services.
Each year, the Subcon Show is one of the most exciting events in our calendar as we don’t just display our own innovative work, we can also see what other people in the manufacturing industries are creating.

Throwback Thursday

Subcon has been going for 28 years this year – 28 years! And this summer we dug out the old albums and found this photo from way back when… More than anything, this photo shows how far we have come as a business and as laser cutting specialists.

Just think about how we’ll look back on 2016 in 28 years’ time!

The TRUMPF 5030 Brightline Fiber

We can’t resist any technology that will make our jobs easier and give our clients even better precision and quality. In September, we invested in a brand new TRUMPF 5030 Brightline Fiber to enable us to process our client’s orders more efficiently while maintaining the high quality we pride ourselves on.

Our Production Supervisor, Linzi, told MTDCNC all about the advantages of the new machine:

CTBA Excellence in Manufacturing Award

We were shortlisted as finalists in two categories in the Coventry Telegraph Business Awards, the Excellence in Science and Technology Award and the Excellence in Manufacturing Award.

And in October, it was announced  that we had won the Excellence in Manufacturing Award!

The award recognised our investments in the latest technology over the year and that, as leaders in our field, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to bring our clients the best possible results.

The competition was of an incredibly high calibre and we were delighted to be placed in the same category as companies such as JLR and Autins Group. 

We had a great night and couldn’t be prouder of our amazing team!

The Launch Party for the TRUMPF 8kw Fiber Laser Cutting System

To round off the year, we decided to invest, yet again, in the latest laser cutting technology. The TRUMPF 8kw Fiber Laser Cutting System is not just your average laser cutter and we went all out, requesting every single one of the additional extras available.

With such an amazing piece of tech on site, it was only right to hold a launch party at our Nuneaton HQ and invite a few VIPs along for the occasion.


Having had such an amazing year in 2016, we just can’t wait to see what this year will bring!
