The United Kingdom is set to leave the European Union on March 29th 2019.
Due to the ongoing uncertainty as to the future relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union, the commercial team at Subcon Laser would like to assure its customers that it is continually monitoring the situation so as to avoid any disruption to the service we provide or to the parts we supply.
We have sought assurances from our supply chain that the supply of raw materials is protected in the event of a No Deal outcome.
A number of suppliers have confirmed that they have no firm or formal plan in place, whilst others have confirmed that not only have they increased stock levels on site, but also at UK docks and on mill order.
This will cover them up to and including July 2019.
We have been notified that in the event of a Hard Brexit/No Deal scenario then there is the likelihood that there will be raw material price increases, especially in the event of increased barriers or tariffs.
From a UK manufacturing perspective, we firmly believe it would be prudent to closely monitor the ongoing Brexit negotiations and if a No Deal situation is looking the most likely outcome, then, where possible, it may be worth considering ordering parts in advance of March 29th.
